Welcome to Tuesday’s Tips from SewVeryEasy, my name is Laura. Do you have a little pair of scissors or snips that you like to keep beside your sewing machine, nice and handy so you can have them while you’re sewing? The only problem is, every time you go get your handy scissors, they’re not so handy. I have a couple of things that I do to keep my scissors always handy. The first thing I do is I have more than one pair of snips beside my machine. I have one that I leave loose, and it is right at the end of my machine. The other one is on a bungee on my machine because that way I can never take it too far from my machine. Let me show you how I have it set up. I like to keep my little snips right at the end of my sewing machine in the back. That way, I’m able to grab them and snip the threads between my chain piecing. The other thing I like is to have a container at the front of the machine so that I can put my little threads and little snippets of fabric in it. This is just a little container that you can get at a dollar store. There’s many different styles that you can get and they’re only put on with suction cups. This one happens to have holes in it, so I was able to put my nice long bungee cord attached to my basket so that I always know where my scissors are. It’s very easy to hang up your scissors with these little suction cups because they will just stick to your machine so you’re able to use them to hang up your scissors or anything else that you would like close to your machine. I got my bungee at Marathon Threads Canada but if you cannot find a bungee cord you can always get these little zingers that are made for the scissors. They have a little end here that opens up and slips into the end of your scissors. You’re going to be able to clip that onto your basket so that the scissors are close at hand and you have enough room to do your trimming, however, you will always know where they are. It’s just a few different ways to keep your little snips so that when you want them handy, they’ll be handy. Thank you for joining me today on Tuesday’s Tips from SewVeryEasy.
